first two months

i had intentions of being more on the ball and doing a post each month with noah's stats, what he's doing, etc., but he's just over eight months old, and i haven't done any posts since his birth post (which i just did a month ago :)).  so, here's a rundown of each month so far...

week 1:
enjoyed having my mom in town the first week noah was here.  she made me rest whenever noah did, helped out around the house, picked up meals for us, and we just had a nice time together, spending time with the new little addition.  i was sad for her to leave, but we've been fortunate to see my family pretty regularly.  this week, noah was very sleepy, as we expected, which was a nice way to ease into parenthood.  it was a beautiful week, and we were able to take lots of walks in the neighborhood.

week 2:
we were blessed to have laura come visit us when noah was two weeks old!  there aren't many people who i would've felt good about having here and not being able to be a great hostess, but laura and i have been friends for so long that she's comfortable making herself at home here, so it was a very welcome and fun visit! she was so sweet to fly up to meet baby noah and spend the weekend with us!  we had a lowkey weekend, laura got lots of quality time holding noah (she LOVES babies), and we laughed nonstop about his nasty smelling belly button (i'm thinking he might always been affectionately known to her as "smelly belly").  kendall also came up during the week, so it was great to introduce noah to one of his wonderful aunts!  noah was still pretty sleepy this week but starting to wake up a little more.  he was a happy baby most of the time, just getting fussy in the evenings some.  when he was two weeks, he was actually able to roll from his stomach to his back. during our regular tummy time, he did it once, and i thought it was just a fluke, but he kept doing it.  we're going to have an active little buddy!

week 3:
this week was rough! it seems like by the third week, babies really wake up and realize they're not in this safe, warm, secure place anymore and aren't happy about it.  noah was much fussier (mainly in the evenings still, but some more during the day too).  i watched the "happiest baby on the block" dvd - thanks jen botzler!! - and quickly became a pro at swaddling noah and moving him so his head would kind of bobble.  seemed like that would make him soothed when nothing else would.  my siblings came up to visit over the weekend, so we had a great time introducing them to noah for the first time.  we had some nice walks, did a few things around the house, celebrated cinco de mayo, took lots of pictures, and had a great time all being together.  i felt bad that noah was fussier when they were here, but they were all ok with it and enjoyed holding and hanging out with their new little nephew.

1 month:
weight -10 lbs 12 oz
length - 22.8 in
noah turned one month on my first monther's day! he has been a very good baby so far, and while we're tired from the interrupted sleep and being "on" basically 24-7, it's been a wonderful transition, and we're enjoying life with our expanded family.  noah is really active and engages with people.  he loves other kids, the dogs, walks in the neighborhood, and being on the go.  not too much of a cuddler except when i feed him :)

month 2:

noah is continuing to grow like a weed and be super active for a little baby.  he loves watching the dogs play, walking in the neighborhood, being in the ergo carrier (that thing is a lifesaver some days!), and wants to be close to us.  he is rarely inconsolable and pretty much just cries when he's hungry or tired.  we're blessed to have a happy, healthy baby!  after 8 weeks off, i started working some, so it was nice to get back into somewhat of a routine and also have some income that we hadn't had the first couple of months.  on the day he got his two-month shots, we got on a plane to atlanta for a little visit.  we surprised my siblings, who had no idea we were coming to town.  it was a nice, relaxing visit - did a little bit of work but mainly just hung out, laid out by the pool, got to see people special to us, etc.  i love how when we go to atlanta, i rarely hold noah because everyone else wants to hold him and be with him - very sweet!! (not that i don't want to hold him, but they love him and miss seeing him, so they want to hold him as much as possible) we celebrated billy's first father's day, and it was special because i was able to spend the morning with my family (hadn't been with my dad on father's day in years) and then come home to billy for his first father's day.  noah had several visits to the beach and seems to enjoy it - likes the sand, not sure about the water in the ocean/bay.  he also got to go in the pool a few times and doesn't seem to mind it.  near the end of his 2nd month, we went to atlanta for the 4th of july weekend, so that was fun.  billy, my mom, and kel ran the peachtree, and then we went to the lake for the weekend.  one big milestone for this month is that noah started to smile!
